Subject: Thank you – Marketing Coordinator interview Hi Ms. Chen, Thank you for meeting with me today about the Marketing Coordinator role. I enjoyed hearing about the spring product launch, and it made me even more excited about the chance to help with the campaign. Please let me know if I can send anything else. I look forward to hearing from you. Best regards, Jordan Ellis

Dear Aunt Carol and Uncle Jim, Thank you for the stand mixer! It's already earned its spot on the counter. Ben made his first loaf of bread last weekend, and it was only slightly lopsided. It meant so much to have you both at the wedding. We hope you'll come over soon for a slice. Love, Katie and Ben
For a Birthday Gift or Party
Name the gift, and say how you've used it or plan to. For money, mention what it's going toward, never the amount.
For birthday money

Dear Uncle Ray, Thank you for the generous birthday check. It's going straight into my fund for a used bike so I can ride to my summer job, and I'm almost there now. I'll send you a photo when I get it. Thank you for thinking of me. Love, Dylan
After a Funeral or Loss
Two or three sentences are enough. Name what they sent or did, and say it helped. No one expects more.

Hi Rosa, Thank you for taking my client calls while I was out sick. I came back to tidy notes on every account and zero angry emails, which might be a first. I owe you lunch this week. Thanks, Dev

Hi Ben, Thanks for giving up your whole Saturday to help me move. I could not have got that couch up three flights without you, and you somehow made it fun. Pizza and beer at the new place as soon as I find the plates. Chris

Dear Carmen, Thank you for a wonderful evening on Saturday. The paella was incredible, and I haven't laughed that much in months. Please send me the recipe for that lemon tart. I'm still thinking about it. With thanks, Isabel
For Doctors and Nurses

Dear Nurse Adaeze, Thank you for looking after me on the fourth floor last month. You always came back when you said you would, and you made me laugh on the morning I was most scared. I'm home now and walking a little farther each day. Thank you for your kindness. With gratitude, Gloria Mendes
What Every Good Thank You Note Has
Whatever the occasion, the notes above share three things. They name the specific thing the person did, say what it meant or made possible, and sound like the person who wrote them. If you get those right, a note of three sentences is enough.
